hayyie:

I usually don’t speak about this much but due the last reblog was a post about me, I wanted to say more about the matter.

I had a serious issue with certain people in the past where they uploaded my drawings, cropped out the signature and uncredited. I asked them politely to credit me (I didn’t even ask to remove it) and their reply was: Why it’s such a big deal, it’s just a drawing! – and ever since, this person and their friends just made it as if it’s their goal to upload my drawings cropped, filtered and took whole credits for it. My friends (without even my knowledge) asked to them to credit or take it off but it only turned into some serious personal bullying where they made posts about me saying I am a bully, that I am a person who did attack them, then they started sending DMs with scribbles making fun of my looks and so on.

There are reasons I stopped drawing for almost half a year or more and that was part of it.

For an artist, some drawings are personal, some has memories, we share it but sometimes when we ask to remove it, it’s because we don’t want it around. People has to just respect that. Let alone re-uploading, editing, cropping, stealing and all these things only discourage an artist to continue doing their works since you’re taking their previews, their time and not even crediting them for it. It’s been an issue for years and I thought I was done with it but I checked last night and the same issue surfaced and I’m just tired of all this, I am sure a lot of artists out there suffered from same thing and I just wish for people to understand, it’s more than a picture, a little respect is all an artist need.

I still don’t get why people do this? Other than it being highly disrespectful to the artist, there’s nothing to be gained from it. Yeah, they might gain a following, but they know it’s fake because they know they didn’t draw it. It’s basically like standing there awkwardly and nodding while all your friends compliment a complete stranger. For every like and comment they get, they know those likes and comments aren’t really directed at them, but at the artist whose art they stole. There’s no satisfaction in that. It really shows a neurotic desire for attention on the part of the art thieves.

But anyway aren’t there rules on IG and everywhere else that hosts artwork when it comes to stolen content? As the content creator, you can report them for infringement and they’ll get their account shut down pretty quick. I wouldn’t even bother engaging them, just go straight to reporting them and let them crap their pants when they wake up and their account’s gone. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
